Aretha R. Martin
Aretha Martin is a Piscataway homeowner along with her husband, and they reside with their two children. Both her children attended Piscataway High School. Her daughter is currently a college student while her son is completing his junior year preparing for his anticipated college years. Aretha comes from a big family where she has always played the role of keeping everyone connected and united during all times.
In her professional career, she serves as the Administrative support to the Division of Sanitation with the Department of Public Works. Aretha has dedicated her adult life to municipal government for over 14 years. Her role in this department has allowed her to grow in the capacity of helping community groups and residents with all quality of life services and most importantly organizing community and citywide festivals.
For Aretha it has always been extremely important to give back to others in any way she can. One of the many ways she gives back is at First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens where she has been a member for over 17 years she has served in different capacities, such as an Advisor for children’s choir, parent advisor for praise dance, youth advisor and small group Bible study. She also is a part of the Piscataway High School Band Board where she handles the marketing/sales of the band merchandise which helps with the band fundraising. Another important way she gives back which is most important to her is at the Ozanam Family Shelter. Once a month Aretha purchases, cooks and serves meals to families in need; this specific time is dear to her heart being that family is a big part of her life.
Aretha is always focusing on ways she can best service adults and children that can use the help. For that reason, she has made it part of her life to continue serving community group events, her children’s school, church and families.
